Messier 25 - The Open Cluster in Sagittarius
Messier 25 is an open cluster in the constellation Sagittarius. It’s located at a distance of about 2000-2200 light-years from our Earth. The cluster contains around 80 stars and has an apparent magnitude of 4.6, which means it’s visible with the naked eye from a dark sky location. When seen without a telescope of binoculairs, it appears like a faint smudge in the sky. Like Messier 23, it is a typical Messier open cluster, consisting of a loose grouping of relatively young stars.
I captured this image during a Messier Marathon in August 2025.
