Messier 5 - The Rose Cluster in Serpens
Messier 5, also known as the Rose Cluster, is a beautiful globular cluster that contains more than 100,000 stars. And some of them are more than 13 billion years old! Capturing this was a fun challange, recently made new Pixinsight workflow to edit star clusters a bit more consistent and that show when comparing the other images from this time.
The Rose Cluster is pretty easy to find with a small telescope in the constellation Serpens, look for a greyish spot with a lot of tiny flickering dots. Below this description you can find the aquisition details and the fully annotated version of this image.
