The Elephant’s Trunk is a dense column of gas and dust being slowly shaped by the radiation of nearby young stars. Set within the larger IC 1396 emission nebula, this region offers a stunning contrast between glowing Hydrogen Alpha gas and dark, dusty filaments.
To ensure the final print perfectly matches the digital image, I produced multiple prototypes and carefully refined those results.
The image itself was captured using my Askar 103APO telescope, ZWO ASI2600MC AIR cooled deep sky camera and a light pollution filter that preserves the incredible natural colours of the nebula.
